Any good marketer knows that design is about more than making things look pretty. It’s a way of thinking, a process of discovering how customers interact with a product, then building a brand around that experience. It is this holistic approach to design that allows us to create things that are both pretty and profitable.

It’s that special spark that happens when you put a writer, a designer and a digital strategist in the same room. Collaboration. Sounds simple, but it is everything to us. Collaboration allows us to solve marketing challenges in a way that makes sense. For the client, the consumer and the creative in all of us.

It’s the way we approach everything – from the studio Statue Tour to each and every client engagement. There is no project that we can’t have a little fun with. No obstacle too great. What we’ve learned in our more than 50 years is if you let the idea lead, you always win.

The Larry and Lauren; the Gary and Guy. Skidmore is different because of our people. Because of our talent, our experience, the way we work together. From Janet who has been here for 30 years to Marc who has been here for three, everyone is committed to doing our best work every day and having fun while doing it.
What’s in a Name?

Agency. Studio. Same thing, right? Not to us. It may seem like a small distinction, but the way we approach partnerships with our clients makes a big difference. We think it’s important to do the little things, ask the tough questions, be authentic and always strive for the extraordinary. The difference is not just in our name (it’s studio by the way), it’s in the results.

Many have asked what inspired our return to Detroit. The answer is always the same: the city, the people and the possibility. We feel strongly that a creative community can impact whether a city flourishes or fails. It’s a sentiment felt throughout our industry. And it has inspired a movement we have furthered through our commitment to Detroit.
